This vintage folk art wooden jig doll, or limberjack, is a crude depiction of a minstrel in Black Americana style. These primitive toys are joined with limbs that move, this jig doll has joints at both shoulders for moving arms, at the hip and knees for legs that will dance when held over a vibrating board. Click here for an example of a jig doll dancing! With a red top hat, red suit jack and green bow tie and pants, our little limberjack minstrel is a charmer. Our jig doll is without his dancing board or holding stick, although there is a small pin hole in his back where one can fit. A wonderful addition to a primitive Americana collection. This jig doll is in good condition with some areas of chipped paint due to years of dancing!
