Allison’s Best of Show win was notable for a number of reasons, at the time, she was the first woman designer to ever achieve the esteemed title. “Painted Ponies” was designed as a tribute to fellow artist, Sonny Tuttle of Red Nations Art. Allison and Tuttle had planned to do a collaborative project for the conference before Tuttle was killed in a car crash in the summer of 2009, their collaborative vision never got past the brainstorming phase. Harriette Allison’s “Painted Ponies” chair drew inspiration from one of Sonny Tuttle’s hand-painted smoked, tanned “spirit hides,” and has even incorporated a Red Nations Art shawl as painted by Tuttle, one of the last pieces of Tuttle’s work available anywhere. Allison’s leather overlay and inlay designs echo Tuttle’s designs on this magnificent golden yellow chair, to memorialize him, his life and his art.After winning Best of Show, “Painted Ponies” has had the opportunity to travel and show in exhibits around the country. Until now this sumptuous, supple and superb art piece has not been available to the public. “Painted Ponies” is museum quality luxury at its finest. Never will there be another like it “Painted Ponies” is a true original like its Lakota-Sioux muse, the much missed, Sonny Tuttle.

We have been covering lots of ground and meeting lots of new friends as we go. We were proud to feature the Harriette Allison leather collection as part of the Western Visions exhibit in Jackson Hole, WY at The National Museum of Wildlife Art http://www.wildlifeart.org/ in September.

Our time in Jackson was wonderful, as usual. Autumn was coming on, making a gorgeous palette across the landscape (helping the drive seem not quite so long).

Upon our return home, we were happy to participate in the 90th annual Genoa Candy Dance Festival and to see Wylie & The Wild West!

The first weekend in October, we attended The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco and the Alameda Point Antiques by the Bay show http://alamedapointantiquesfaire.com/ what fun!

The second weekend we exhibited at The Golden California Antiques Show http://www.goldencaliforniashow.com/ in Glendale, CA.

What a gorgeous show, what a wonderful era! You’ll see us there next year, as well.

It was after meeting Thea Marx http://www.contemporarywesterndesign.com, that our trip took us to Cody, WY. Thea loved our chair, and loved Sonny Tuttle… she asked us to bring Painted Ponies to her show, Style West in Cody, and we were happy to oblige.

Our week in Jackson was wonderful and ended in a surprisingly delightful way, reacquainting with our friend Rachel Walls!
